Deporte Balear: SAILING. AINA BAUZÀ, THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS…
Mallorca, May 2023 – Aina Bauzà has presented her upcoming project to the media: crossing the Atlantic solo aboard the sailboat Redó by Ànima Negra. The port of Andratx (Mallorca) became the setting for the press conference where the sailor shared the physical and psychological preparation she has undertaken for over two years to achieve this challenge. “The important thing will be to finish the journey, to make the boat fly, and to arrive safe and sound,” comments Aina.
Aina Bauzà’s adventure has unique conditions. In addition to being the only Spanish woman facing this challenge, she will also become the first Balearic woman and the 5th Spanish woman in history to cross the Atlantic under the following conditions: on a 6.5-meter sailboat (one of the smallest and fastest boats in the world), without assistance or contact with land, with minimal onboard comforts, dry sails turned into a bed, a bucket as a bathroom, freeze-dried food, and with rigorous training to sleep only in short 20-minute naps.
