Next Tuesday, September 24, Aina Bauza will compete representing Spain in the Offshore Doubles Sailing World Championship, a key event in the international sailing calendar, which will take place in Lorient, France. This competition brings together 22 mixed teams from 16 countries, highlighting the diversity and high level of the event.

The race course will cover the waters of the North Atlantic, from the coast of Brittany to the Isles of Scilly in the west, and the approaches to the English Channel in the east. Conditions are expected to be challenging, with prevailing westerly winds and strong ocean currents, promising an exciting and strategic competition.

Aina, like all sailors in the competition, will be sailing aboard a Sun Fast 30 OD, a 10.4-meter one-design boat built for offshore racing. The competition will include a series of 24-hour heats, with the top five teams from each group advancing to the final. The final, lasting approximately 48 hours, will crown the world champion for the team that crosses the finish line first. The Mallorcan sailor will compete alongside David Paul as co-skipper.

For Aina, this is an opportunity to test new boats. “Sailing a new boat is always challenging and interesting. It teaches you so much about the sea and sailing, and I can’t wait to get back on the water.” The championship is organized by Lorient Grand Large, in collaboration with the FFVoile and the Royal Ocean Racing Club, with support from Jeanneau and Multiplast.
